Sex, age, height, weight and BSA are taken from the paste when it includes the patient details, and can be set by hand; BSA is computed (DuBois) from height and weight when the paste has none.

How it works

Copy the measurements table from a cardiac MRI report (Word, PDF or a reporting system), click the table above and paste. The page reads the left and right ventricular end-diastolic volume, end-systolic volume, stroke volume, ejection fraction and mass, absolute and indexed to body surface area, together with the patient’s sex, age, height and weight where the paste includes them. Every value is then compared with the published normal range for that sex and age decile, and the seven charts a report usually carries (LV EDVI, ESVI, EF and mass index; RV EDVI, ESVI and EF) are drawn with the patient marked on them. Charts can be copied or downloaded as PNG, combined into one sheet, or exported as a Word file laid out for a report.

How the charts are drawn. Each chart plots the published mean and 95% confidence limits against age for the patient’s sex, with the lines fitted by least squares through the six age-decile values (20 to 79 years). The patient’s value is marked with a black square at their age. The table above flags a value against the printed interval for the matching decile, and the lines on the chart are a fit through those intervals, so a value close to a limit may sit on one side of it in the table and the other on the chart. Values are indexed to body surface area where the reference tables index them. Outside 20 to 79 years the reference data do not apply and the page says so.
